About
Fungi Field Notes is designed to help beginners, seasoned field researchers, and everyone in between by replacing paper observation sheets with a convenient digital observation tool. It guides users step by step through the process of documenting the macro characteristics and supporting information needed for a proper scientific description, then automatically generates either a detailed list description or a polished written description that can be saved to a foray log or exported to iNaturalist.
Because the information is recorded in a clear, structured way, it is far easier to compare against fungal keys and reference material than rough handwritten notes or photo-only observations. It is useful for mycological societies and forays, as an educational tool, or simply for the fungi nerd who wants to level up their observation skills. Because so many fungi remain undocumented or poorly documented, this kind of structured field data can be extremely valuable.
You can also save Fungi Field Notes to your phone like an app for quick access in the field.
